Our Founder

Andrew’s vision for Aquarius was inspired by his incredible breadth of exposure to wide-ranging artistic and cultural influences during his global travels over many years.
After receiving his B.A. in International Studies from Macalester College, Andrew embarked on a transformative journey of personal growth and discovery that spanned the globe, from the rugged wilderness of Alaska to the diverse landscapes of Australia. Along the way, he faced numerous challenges that not only shaped his character, but also sparked his deep belief in the power of yoga and bodywork as essential components of self-care and wellness.
It was during this period of exploration that Andrew's path led him to massage therapy, a discipline he would study and refine over the course of three decades. His training took him to a variety of places, including St. Louis, California, India, and Costa Rica, where he immersed himself in both traditional and modern techniques. His travels also exposed him to the rich spa cultures of countries like France, Finland, Thailand, and Hungary, deepening his appreciation for how massage therapy and bodywork vary across cultures and regions.
Simultaneously, Andrew adopted a rigorous Ashtanga yoga practice in the mid-1980s, studying under the guidance of K. Pattabhi Jois in both San Francisco and Hawaii. The discipline of yoga, combined with his growing knowledge of therapeutic bodywork, became the foundation of his personal well-being journey, which culminated in his hiking the entire Appalachian Trail—from Georgia to Maine—on his 30th birthday, a feat of both physical endurance and mental fortitude.
Inspired by his expansive experiences and the integration of mind-body practices, Andrew was motivated to create Aquarius—an "Oasis of Calm...and Heart" in the heartland, offering a sanctuary for healing, relaxation, and balance unlike any other. His vision brings together the wisdom gained from his years of global travel, yoga, and massage therapy to provide a comprehensive approach
to wellness.
