Owner Andrew Goodman has visited countless day spas through the years and around the world, many of which provided valuable and memorable lessons about what to do, and what not to do, when operating a spa in St. Louis. After an extended period of global travel, Andrew returned to St. Louis with a clear vision for the type of “clean-green” spa he wanted to create, namely a “homelike” space that is clean, cozy, comfortable, environmentally friendly, and embodies wellness in every sense of the word!

Our mission at Aquarius Wellness transcends our spa services to include a spa environment that reflects our commitment to promote a cleaner, healthier, more sustainable planet for all. Aquarius grew organically into a luxury spa facility in St. Louis, the likes of which our clients haven’t seen anywhere else, but also into a New Age concept for what a spa facility could be, with a magnified mission to be in service to both people and planet at the same time.

From the floors we walk on, to the air we breathe, to the charities we donate a portion of every product and service we sell to, we have lovingly and carefully invested in sustainable products, materials, processes, and causes, that allow all of us to indulge in the gift of wellness while, at the same time, consciously protecting the world, and its underserved inhabitants, around us.

Where Personal and Global Wellness Are One!

With meticulous care, we designed our St. Louis spa to create a lovingly warm space that is as nourishing for the planet as it is for the soul. Here are just some of the ways our “Sanctuary for the Senses” supports our commitment to remain socially responsible and environmentally conscious, while maintaining the highest hygiene standards from corner to corner:

Cork Flooring

Our flooring is made from sustainably harvested, recycled and reclaimed resources. Cork has excellent thermal and acoustic properties and is a beautiful flooring material that is lightweight, warm to the touch, hypoallergenic, soft, fire-insect-moisture-resistant, and long-lasting (maintains the same as hardwood floors).

Treatment Tables

All of our massage treatment tables are made in the USA by Oakworks, and are among the finest treatment tables available! Each of our hydraulic tables is equipped with a Biomat, covered by a thick wool or fleece cover, and then covered again by a custom-made, fitted “ultraleather” vinyl cover (including the facecradle). This cover is designed exclusively for Aquarius for enhanced hygiene purposes. Using our hospital-grade disinfectant, we sanitize the table between each client. And the final layer, upon which our clients actually lie, is one of our premium, silky soft, Comphy sheets, covered by our Comphy Damask blankets. All in all, a table fit for a queen…or king!

Furniture

Much of our furniture at Aquarius has come from a manufacturer which claims that “sustainable forest management practices” were observed in the sourcing of its raw materials.

Low-VOC Paints and Stains

Throughout our spa, we use eco-friendly paints and stains to promote healthier indoor air quality.

Eco-Friendly/Compostable Cups

We use Planet + hot or cold cups that come lined with Natureworks Ingeo™ biopolymer, made from 100% natural plant sugars. The cups are also 100% BPI certified compostable and meet all ASTM 6400 composting requirements. They are made from 100% pre-consumer recycled fiber, using no petrochemicals.

Hospital-Grade Disinfectants

We adhere to the highest hygiene standards and use disinfectants that are powered by Accelerated Hydrogen Peroxide® technology. The disinfectants we use are:

• Non-irritating, hospital-grade, and EPA-registered
• Able to meet OSHA Bloodborne pathogen standards
• Eco-friendly; the ingredients break down into water and oxygen
• Approved for use against SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19), hepatitis B & C virus, HIV, athlete’s foot and nail fungus, MRSA, and other spa- or salon-relevant pathogens

Printing

Setting higher standards for “greener printing,” we partner with a company that shares our values for eco-friendly business practices. Murray Print Shop is a family-owned, fourth-generation, environmentally conscious printing company that’s located in the heart of St. Louis. The company uses 100% recycled content for all of their collateral printing, along with low-VOC, eco-friendly, soy-based inks, and recycles up to 95% of their paper waste.

Recycling

We make every effort to recycle as much as possible, thereby reducing the volume of material ending up in the waste stream. We are committed to promoting a more sustainable planet by providing raw materials that can be repurposed into new products.
